Are you ready to learn something new and challenging? Perhaps fulfill a New Year’s resolution? Then American mah-jongg is for you! American Mahj is played with a NMJL Card and 152 tiles. It is challenging, frustrating, AND so much fun! Come join us for a four week course and learn to play this fascinating game!

The first class is critical and provides the foundation for the game. We are hands-on. We learn the tiles by organizing them and then learn the card and tie the two together and begin to understand the concept of the game.

The second class will review the tiles and the card, and learn about the Charleston. Then we will proceed to an actual game and be introduced to the protocols.

The hardest part of the game is determining how to pattern match your tiles to hand on the card and decide what section to focus on. The third and fourth classes will assist in developing the skill!

My teaching style is very hands-on, and auditory. Comprehensive handouts will be provided!


Mahj session objectives:
After this four week course, you will have a basic overview and understanding of the Mah Jongg tiles, the Mah Jongg card, the MahJongg protocols, and how to play this very exciting and challenging game. You will be playing a game with coaching and will be positioned to continue the Mah Jongg journey on your own!
